As the seasons shift from spring to summer, FIG is embracing all sorts of transition and two new four-legged friends. Meet Chesty and Huckleberry, our newest pygmy goats and instant entertainment!

We now have 22 beautiful garden boxes fully built, including two ADA-accessible raised boxes, ready to welcome growers of all abilities. 16 of those beds have already been planted with a delicious lineup of potatoes, peas, herbs, peppers, radishes, spinach, carrots, and more.

Spring has arrived and First In Gardens is buzzing with activity thanks to an incredible group of volunteers and some serious manual labor. Over the past month, 18 volunteers, ranging in age from 5 to 83, put in 138 hands-on hours to help transform FIG’s space.

One of our goals at First In Gardens is to offer an inviting and safe space that might motivate someone to resurface into community. We hope to be the constant “first bud of spring” that invites others to emerge and join us.
