Greetings, FIG Folk! Peak season is taking shape at First In Gardens, and there’s a lot growing around here. Our goats and chickens have new homes and fencing around their paddock. Keeping out our neighbor groundhog family has been a task so we have also completed the fencing around the gardens giving our plants, people, and animals a little more structure. Plantings are in and already producing plenty of promise: spinach, all kinds of lettuce, herbs, and even lovage (which tastes a bit like celery... sort of?) with blueberries, potatoes, tomatoes, and more all coming along nicely. And most importantly, the chili peppers are starting to take shape, which means things are officially getting serious. We’re also excited to welcome new garden members and new volunteers into the FIG community, with plenty of fun ahead this spring and summer. We’re looking forward to music nights, craft days, and the kickoff of our new First Responder Shift Change Breakfasts on Saturday mornings. There’s a lot to grow, a lot to share, and a lot to look forward to. As always, Be First In and last out, it tastes better that way.
